Bundled Software Delivers 'Better PDF for Business' with Conversion for Microsoft Word Documents, Plus Direct Connectivity to Microsoft SharePoint and More 

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., July 13, 2011 – Canon U.S.A. Inc., a leader in digital imaging, today announced that it will bundle Nuance eCopy PDF Pro Office with select models of its imageFORMULA scanning products. Complementing Canon's renowned imaging technology and reliability, eCopy PDF Pro Office supports 100 percent industry standard PDF and PDF/A files, and offers features that allow office workers to be more productive and efficient with PDF documents.

Available in the Canon imageFORMULA workgroup scanners that support Windows OS, Nuance eCopy PDF Pro Office provides a variety of features for users to create, edit and convert PDF files including unique conversion of PDF files into Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Corel WordPerfect documents that can save time versus re-typing.

  • Improved PDF & Paperless Productivity – The eCopy Visual Document Assembly feature makes it easy to combine existing Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents with scanned PDF documents. The FormTyper automatically turns a paper form into a fillable PDF form that can be completed online.
  • Web Integration – eCopy PDF Pro Office includes the Web PDF Toolbar, which lets users customize the way they interact with PDF files within Microsoft Internet Explorer, FireFox and Google Chrome Web browsers.
  • Smarter PDF Search – Searching one or more PDF files now becomes more useful and powerful with support for Search-and-Markup, which uses keywords to automatically highlight matches throughout the PDF document.  Users can define custom patterns to search, making it possible to find information even when the exact text or number is not known.

Nuance Debuts eCopy ShareScan Suite 5

Nuance Communications debuted the new release of its document scanning and workflow solution for networked multifunction printers (MFPs), eCopy ShareScan Suite 5.

eCopy’s support for devices from leading MFP vendors, including Canon, Konica Minolta,Ricoh (News - Alert), and Xerox Corporation’s Extensible Interface Platform technology is now supported with this new release. eCopy ScanStation also offers the capabilities of eCopy ShareScan 5 to all TWAIN or ISIS-capable MFPs and scanning devices, the company has stated.

eCopy ShareScan 5 is now available from Canon (News - Alert) USA and Canon Europe Limited and will be available within 90 days from other members of Nuance’s global channel of MFP vendors, partners and dealers, the company announced.

“eCopy ShareScan 5 is an important upgrade – with features not found in other solutions – that makes scanning easier and more valuable,” said Brian Bissett, editor of The MFP Report, in a press release. “The new release greatly expands users’ ability to reduce the cost of capturing and managing paper, including the ability now to tackle paper forms processing right from the MFP. Nuance (News  - Alert) also gives users the flexibility to quickly move documents.”

Allowing office workers turn paper into digital information - as easily as making a copy, the product is the first MFP scanning product to include unlimited document and forms processing as a standard feature. It also provides new features such as eCopy Extenders, an open snap-in architecture that allows for advanced document processing. In connecting MFP to back-end applications through eCopy Connectors, the new release extends eCopy ShareScan's leadership.

Recently, the company launched Nuance Transcription Services, an outsourced transcription services offering that expands Nuance's clinical documentation solutions portfolio. Nuance Transcription Services leverages the company’s speech-enabled transcription platforms to deliver cost-effective, high-quality medical records service through a workflow where Nuance manages the complete clinical documentation process.
